The Fortune-Teller

I’ve been fascinated by Patricia A. McKillip’s short story The Fortune-Teller (from “Wonders of the Invisible World”, 2012). In this story a young woman named Merle steals a deck of cards from an old drunk woman. She thinks they are regular tarot cards, but they turn out to be strange and somewhat disturbing: cards she’s never seen before and definitely cannot read with.

McKillip describes fourteen of these cards. I’ve been attempting to recreate them. A lovely project!
